We again will play our part in the 2019 International Festival of Fair Trade Walks with the theme ‘Milestones’; celebrating the Fair Trade Way and Lancaster Canal. This year sees the 10th anniversary for the original Garstang to Keswick Fair Trade Way and 25 years since the launch of the FAIRTRADE Mark in the UK. It is also the bicentenary for the Lancaster canal (otherwise known as the ‘black and white’ canal) that first ran from Preston to Kendal. We will walk alongside the canal from Galgate to Garstang to view the new milestones that are currently being replaced to celebrate the bicentenary – and its flat!!!! Details below. If you have any questions or would like to join us on the day and find out why it’s called the ‘black and white canal’ please contact Graham at: hulmesongs@gmail.com

Date: Sunday 21st July
Details: Galgate to Garstang (Approx. 9 miles). No gradient (Along the canal towpath). Surface is good but if it has been raining then areas of mud will be evident.
Duration: Approx. 3.5 hours.
Meeting: Meet at The Silk Mill Cafe in Galgate at 1.00pm for a 1.30pm start.
